Tonight Newbury Photography Club welcomes Brian Worley who is our guest workshop presenter for the evening, with a back to basics workshop for everyone from beginners to experts.  This is the first part of 3 separate sessions Brian will be holding for us at Shaw Social Club.

To quote Brian - "I’ve spent over 20 years building my knowledge. This means I convert the many pages of instruction manuals in to practical, better ways for you to make pictures.  I work with individuals and companies, who book me for 1-2-1 training, workshops and technical articles.

Brian's website is well worth a visit -  He has a great blog with tips, techniques and photo gear.

Charity donation
The camera club raised £200 at our Social evening before Christmas This has been donated to the Rosemary Appeal Cancer Support and Renal Dialysis Unit at Newbury Hospital.  The donation was made on behalf of the club via the Good Exchange which enabled Gift Aid and the donation was match funded.  The total donation was £200 collected plus £50 Gift Aid plus £200 match funding making a brilliant £450 for the charity.
Thanks to everyone who donated in various ways to make this possible.

The first set of Speciality Competitions were held on Thursday 25th October.  These comprised of

Gaston Alziary Award - This is for the Best Black and White Print

Tudor Cup Award - This is for the best SET OF THREE RELATED BLACK AND WHITE PRINTS shown as a panel.

Joan Wakelin Award - This for the best DOCUMENTARY PANEL with a human interest.  Each panel must comprise of a set of 5 images and contain a human element in all the images – the sort of pictures that would illustrate an article in a Sunday colour supplement.  The lead picture must be able to show the Judge what the subject is about and all 5 images as a whole should "tell a story". All 5 images are to be mounted onto a single mount no larger than 600mm X 500mm. The lead picture is to be noticeably larger than the other four.

It was with great pleasure that Newbury Camera Club welcomed the judge for the evening - Tony Oliver (ARPS, CPAGB, BPE2*) from Salisbury Camera Club.  Due to the number and the quality of the entries received from the club members, Tony had quite a task to reduce the number of entries in order to award 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Commended marks.

Well done to all entrants.  Here are the results
